'There is in all things a pattern that is part of our universe. It has symmetry, elegance, and grace. You can find it in the turning of the seasons, in the way sand trails along a ridge, in the branch clusters of the creosote bush or the pattern of its leaves.' - Frank Herbert, DUNE.

(Taken on a recent 2 day trip to Lake Mungo with Mark Sansom - Thanks Mark for driving up and back!)

My favorite Sci-Fi book series of all time.

After reading these books several times over, immersing myself in them to the exclusion of so much in this world, I feel like I've been there and your image has just made me homesick.

Stunning image Colin once again:thumbsup:
Now if only I had your skills in processing my images to look anything close to yours

A great photo Colin.

Simple, but so beautiful.

Probably the best nightscape I have seen.

Is it a single shot or a composite?

Thanks.

Ross.

Thanks guys, appreciate the great comments and feedback as always :)

For those interested in doing night shots at Lake Mungo - unfortunately, the main lunette area is off limits at night. There are signs warning you not to leave the path and that access is only possible via guided tour. However, there is a road out the back where you can access the dunes. I didn't see any signs there, so figured it was ok to visit at night.

Colin, what a simple and stunning composition! The moonlit sand is just sublime. Hope to see it in timelapse one day :)

I feared that was the case. I had read about guided tours only, but couldn't find any thing exactly about shooting at night. Good to know.
