Here is a nice field of galaxies I picked up at the start of the month.

Arp 316 is also NGC3190 and is part of the Hickson 44 galaxy group. Brighter and more spectacular than your average dim galaxy, note the strange dust lane spllitting the thing in two. Six more small galaxies are also in the field.

Hi Pete - that's a nice field and one that I haven't seen before.

What was your imaging setup?

Chris

Hi. Thanks for the note.

I use a Celestron C8 with the F6.3 reducer to get down to around F7. Camera is an SBIG ST-2000XM. Mount is an AP Mach-1. This picture is about 12 L frames and 6 each of RGB. I generally use 5 minutes per frame under soupy suburban skies. :-)

Quite a remarkable image Pete!

Especially under suburban skies.

Cheers,

Good work.
I'd like to get a pic like that with so many large galaxies.
