Got some Ha on 2944 and I'm a bit lost on how to process it, I thought it was really static (a chicken) but to me it looks like it's swirling around.

About 8 x 10 minute subs here.

12" newt, atik11002, oag qhy5L2.

More rainless nights required :)

Nice one Robin. Glad you posted a repro - that first chicken was bit overcooked! 2nd one nice and smooth. I'd like to have a swim around in it too and check out the detail on the bok globules - looks pretty damned good.

I just got the new codes for the dome driver so I can start using the stuff again.
I swapped computers in the dome to get the stupid SX wheel stable but of course that means new codes to activate the stupid software. :P

that's unreal Robin, stars look amazing. and with the 9um pixel and resolution, the FOV is pretty cool. is this a 12" F4?
Do you use PEC at all on the EQ6 or just guiding with the OAG?

edit: just noticed that small bubble at the bottom left. is that an artefact or a nebula?

That's a GSO 12" F4 Alistair. I strengthened the tube around the focuser with some Galv sheeting, Tapped a couple more grub screws into the focuser to stop it rocking, Flocked it with protostar flock board, replaced the wobbly spider and holder with one from astrosystems and plugged an ASA 3" corrector and OAG in front of the atik. I cropped 25% off the right side of this image to balance it up. There's no Pec setup and it has 25Kgs in counterweigths on the eq6, I thought it would be on an eq8 by now but no sign of that yet and I haven't tried this outside of the dome. It could do with another focuser, this one is having real trouble lifting the weight.

Didn't notice that bubble till you mentioned it. Might get a better look with some S2/O3?

I did get some S2 Marc but will have to wait for the Moon to go before trying O3 again, it's just being washed out by the moon.

The second version is great Robin. Shame the moon is always around on the clear nights up here!

Nice work Robin. I find the 2nd version oversharpened myself but that's my taste. I prefer the stars to have a soft halo. Otherwise its a pleasing image.

I'd also try 20 minute subs. 10 minutes is a bit short for narrowband unless you are getting tracking issues with longer subs. You've got to get the signal high enough over the noise floor to get the fainter parts.
John Gleason is the best in the business for Ha and I notice he uses 40minute 1x1 subs at F5. You need stable weather for 40 minute subs. I may even try that myself tonight and see how it looks.

Looking a bit cloudy again anyway Pete, good chance for me to play with my hackintosh :)

I get a lot of aircraft here greg, it needs to be pretty late at night to do 20minute+ subs otherwise most have aircraft in them and i've found rotation starts to show up when i go over 30minutes. Ha seems ok on this target at 10 minutes, I did get some 15minutes binned x2 on S2 and tried some 15minute binx1 O3 but the O3's are full of gradients and rubbish from the moon, no good at all.
