I had hopes of capturing an aurora last week from Lake Tekapo, NZ. Sadly it didn't appear :( Although I did manage to take some snapshots of the milkyway using the Astrotrac and my 5D Mark II.

These were taken at the Church of the Good Shepherd. I assume the green glow along the horizon is airglow?

Details are as follows:

1st shot (#1297): 24mm 150s, f4, ISO6400 (tracked)
2nd shot (#1309): 17mm 360s, f4.5 ISO1600 (tracked)
3rd shot (#1311): 17mm 60s, f4, ISO6400 (fixed tripod)

Thanks for looking :)

Thx guys :)

Without a doubt it was the most beautiful view of the Milky Way I had ever seen. I'm not surprised its one of four places in the world to earn a gold status for its dark skies.
