I'm not sure about this one - I like it, but not sure if it's too busy.

In any case, it's a bit of an experiment because it's a single 5-minute exposure on the Polarie, with the Canon 6D and 50mm lens @ f/2.8, ISO3200.

I didn't use the polar scope, just the polar meter (great addition!) to align so I was pushing to see how far it would go without trails. Very impressed.

I took about 10 shots of 1-2 minute exposures, and will stack them later and see how they look. This was just to see how a single 5-min exposure goes.

Feedback welcome.

I've done similar experiments Mike. My conclusion was too high an ISO blows it out too much and reduces dynamic range. ISO1600 or 800 may've given a different look here. High ISO seems good for short shots and lower ISO seems better in longer shots.
The highlights get blown out by the high ISO is the problem (low dynamic range).

My experience (60Da) is that the max time @ ISO 1600 is roughly 3min, I try not to set ISO above that ...

Yeh I think you're right Greg.
This was ISO3200 and probably would've been better with longer exposures at a lower ISO.

Unless you can pull back the highlights in Canon DDP. Or perhaps highlights/shadows tool in PS.

Probably not because its been recorded like that but you never know.

Not too shabby Mike;it will be interesting to compare your stacked 1-2 min exposures. Taken at Lostock I assume? Sorry I couldn't make it this year, maybe next!

Impressive tracking. I think I will order the polar meter.
So much detail visible.
