Hello to all members

I have noticed that a number of members have EQ6 mounts, but I am not sure if any, have a 10" reflector either Synta or GSO mounted on the EQ6. I know that there are EQ6 plus 10" reflectors packages available but I have not seen any comments on how such systems perform in visual use and if the vibration (shaking) is excessive.
I will be soon purchasing a GEM to mount either the ZS105 refractor or the 10" GSO reflector on it. The EQ6 is a strong candidate as it is lighter both in terms of its self weight and its cost. The heavier Celestron CGE or the Losmandy G11 come second. I will be using the mount for observing only and not astrophotography.

Any comments will be much appreciated.

Thanks and regards

George

Hi George, A friend of mine has just put his 12" G.S.O. on a EQ6.
It's a BIG package, but he finds that it balances well and it's easy to operate. Vibration is kept to a minimum. He uses it for mainly visual work, but his intention is to also use for astrophtography.
I'll get him to post a proper report, as soon as this weather clears. Cheers, John.

Member VideoGuy (Steve Massey/MyAstroShop) uses a 10"Skywatcher on an EQ6 for imaging.
