This is the best I could do with mother natures dealings today.
I have some more but no time to process, I dont think its much good anyway. Raining again.
There were lots of birds today, in fact at least 3 transits that I know of.
Cant seem to be able to upload the Gif of some reason, it is only 435KBs.
Any ideas?:confused2:

While I certainly enjoyed the animation, the detail in that extreme closeup really impressed, I can never seem to get "that close".
Great work.

Thanks Gary,
Those shots were at or close to a FL 3000, the attached shots are at FL4000 or there about. The jump from 3x to 4x is very dependent on seeing. These are at 4 to 5/10 seeing and are very boarder line as you can see. I was not going to Post them but it serves as a good comparison. The only draw back with my set up is I need to reduce quiet a bit to obtain a full disc.
However a mosaic at Prime Focus gives great detail.

All nice image Ralph. I do like the first close up best though.

wow. really really nice.

Sorry to be such a newbie .. but is that a shot of a real bird caught in line of sight of the camera? Its not some new phenomenon of our sun right?

It is a genuine Hawk passing through the field of view Niv.

Nice shots mate!

This might be a stupid question but how do you get the sun looking like that? Is it a special type of filter?

Nice work again Ralph. I see shadows traversing the sun all the time that I'm out there imaging. I assume birds.

I think they would be John. Mostly they are very small and to high up (swallows) chasing insects on top of the surface turbulence level. Happens all the time up here anyway.

Nope not stupid at all. It is indeed a special filter set up. It is called H-Alpha.
