These are the first images from my Atik 314L+ on my ED80/EQ5, they are my first ever images with a CCD and first with narrowband filters.

I had some issues with PHD fighting the backlash on my mount so lots of frustration and some eggy stars but, thanks to a recommendation from Chris (Screwdriverone), I bought Startools and it's done a pretty good job of fixing them.

Overall I'm pretty happy with them as a first attempt :D

M8 is 4x5min Ha + 4x5min OIII
Eta Car is 4x5min Ha + 4x5min OIII + 4x5min SII
NGC2070 is 5x5min Ha

All processed in DSS, Startools and PS

And thanks Chris, Fred and Steve for your assistance at IISAC, much appreciated! :)

Nice shots. No evidence of eggy stars, does Startools work that well? Eggy stars are hard to handle without leaving a trace so that is impressive. Can you post a before and after Startools shot to show what it did?

Greg.

Thanks guys!
Nice to meet you too Mike :)

Greg, I'm pretty impressed with Startools. These are 1:1 crops, they both have deconvolution done in ST but the final one has the star shape repair done plus a bit more noise reduction and a bit more love with the grade.

Off to an excellent start Hugh - both in capture and processing. What a difference Startools makes!
