G'day All

Here is another attempt at Eta Carina, this image was taken on 6 APR 13 only just had time to stack and tweak a little in DSS this weekend.

No further image processing has taken place other than DSS.

Equipment:

SW ED80 Pro (Gold Series)
Orion Sky View Pro (Synscan)
Canon 1100D (Unmodified)
Backyard EOS
Unguided images, 17 images in total (3 x 18 sec 3200 ISO + 6 x 21 sec 3200 ISO + 6 x 25 sec 1600 ISO + 2 x 20 sec 800 ISO).

I think this one is a little better (getting there (maybe!)).

Thanks for looking.

Thanks Carl

Thanks Dave

Whilst it is not perfect I am happy with it (for my third attempt ever of Eta C and fifth ever DSO image of anything - yes I am still a nooooob!), especially with my camera constraints at the time (unmodified Canon 1100D) and old Orion Sky View mount with poor tracking.

Looking forward to giving the CCD a go! Still working on getting to know the camera and software. It s a lot more difficult than using the DSLR and BYEOS. I guess good things come to those that wait, oh and practice!

I have also recently bought a couple of OAGs so I can have a go guiding with the Orion SSAG (QHY5) and I am hoping that will make a difference too. Cant wait for them to get here too!

I do think that the image below looks a little noisy though! Any thoughts?

Cheers

Gav :)

Well done :) I don't think it looks overly noisy. Nice image. I recon you will have fun when you get your CCD up and running. What camera did you get?

Thanks Erik

I just got an older CCD, second hand Atik 16HR with EFW. But I thought it would be a good starting point to learn with, without breaking the bank!

I still think that the DSLR will form an important part of my imaging platform in the future.
