Hi all,

Here's an image of our campsite at Girraween National Park, where we spent 3 nights late last week. The skies were clear-ish at night, but there was thin cirrus cloud most of the time which affected the visibility of the Milky Way. But it did bring out the colours of the brighter stars nicely.

30 sec exposure with the Tokina 11-16 lens @ f/2.8 and 3200 iso.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Stephen

We were there at roughly the same time! :) Girraween is a very nice place although the windy conditions at times were a nuisance. And of course the banks of clouds at times.

What camera do you use? I wish my old 30D could do 3200 with low noise. The best I can do is 1600 and it's noisy...

Here's the links to my shots from there: Milky Way (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=105867) and LMC (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=105829)

Edit: Ah, just noticed the fine print sig with the 50D in it. :)

Thanks very much Andrew, Mike, Andrew, Dennis, Colin, Chris and Laurie!

I was there from Tuesday to Friday, Chris, camping at the very southern end of the Castle Rock campground (near where the southern tracks start). It's a great part of the world isn't it.

You got some nice shots too!

I'll post some more shots in the terrestrial photography section soon.

Cheers,
Stephen
