A very comprehensive FREE 102-page chart set for us

I came across a link to the brand-new release of Deep Sky Hunter (http://www.deepskywatch.com/deep-sky-hunter-atlas.html) sky charts on CN and took a look. I am impressed that somebody would simply give away such a treasury. I downloaded a set, printed them out in A3 format, and slipped them into a set of A3 Flip-File (thin plastic sheet protectors) binders which come in sets of 20 (40 charts x 2 full binders = 80 overall, up to 45°N). After a couple of nights use, they've replaced every chart set I've used. The Deep Sky Hunter website describes the charts, 'In terms of scale and amount of detail - "DeepSky Hunter" falls somewhere between Sky Atlas 2000 and Uranometria 2000.' That understates them quite a bit. Charts 98 and 99 show the E3 GC in Chamaeleon, which Uranometria (p.465) does not; it's the first time I've seen it on any chart. In a casual perusal of favorite areas I found quite a lot of objects none of my other field charts list—notably a great many UCG galaxies. The obscure Djorgovski and Tonantzinlia GCs are placed, though Uranometria misses the Djorgs. And, blessings be, the Deep Sky Hunter shows Ru 106 in Cen, also missing in Uranometria; till now I've had to manually pen this one in on my field charts (which still hasn't worked out to a successful glimpse, drat). DSH does fade a bit on the dwarf galaxies—Carina is not there, nor Sextans and Sextans A (though Sextans B, the faintest at vm 11.9 is). Those niggles aside, Deep Sky Hunter is an extremely useful freebie for us to enjoy and use.

Sounds like a good free atlas,even though it only goes down to -60 degs south.
Question,where does one get printers that print A3 size paper:question:
I have never seen one except in an office.:shrug:

Ron, the version 2 set goes to 90S. You have to download the full version. There is no S equivalent of the N subsets.

officeworks if there's one nearby for about 10 cents a page. The Epson workforce listed below is an excellent printer for its price. ow have them cheaper than hardly normals. HP have a3 as well for a decent price.

I would not have that much use for it except for printing of something like this atlas.
Matt, using your estimates of price per sheet,it would cost nearly $14:00 to print the full atlas off.
Not bad I suppose for a big Star Atlas.:)

Good grief. That's about half the price of my A4 duplex Canon colour laser printer. Wonder how much the ink cartridges are.

My printer (which is nothing special - just a Brother MFC) scales the pages down to A4 and prints them just fine.

Do I really need to print out all pages?

Alan, it depends on the latitude from which you will be observing, but from Sydney (and pretty much the rest of Australia) it looks like you can only skip a couple of them. 1 and 2 are the only ones that are entirely not visible from here.

Yes, I am from Sydney and so the whole book are useful except chart 1 and 2?

Now that's a slightly different question. From Sydney it is theoretically possible to see objects at 55°N.
If by useful you mean objects have to get to a reasonable altitude - say 10° - then you could start at chart 17 and that gets you to ~45°N.
If you wanted make it higher then maybe chart 37 which will take you to ~20°N.
If you were going to start at chart 3 you might as well print the whole thing.

Yes, I found difficulties in finding A3 folder and slip in.
