Hi guys, I want to bluetooth eqmod to my EQ6 and have the bits here to do it but wanted to confirm with someone that's rolled their own already, if this diagram is correct.

Looks like you got that off the EQMod website? That's what I used to make my own EQDir cable and it works fine. No experience with the bluetooth, though.

Cheers Troy, I remember RobF tried one once and the smoke escaped from inside the mount, just wanted to make sure.
You can get bluetooth boards off ebay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/300855274680?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX: IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_1865wt _952)for about $10. But as the eqmod site says, they may need a logic convertor to convert them from 3.3v out to 5v.

I've read about the bluetooth, but not sure I understand the benefits. Got wires going to the mount for camera, guide cam, dew control, mount power etc. Is there something other than saving one USB cable amongst all the others that's a benefit?

For me it gets rid of a serial cable and lets me fiddle with stuff while it's raining :)

I suspect it's more about the latter than the former :)

Hi,
I finished making a Bluetooth for my EQ6 last week end, works very nice
Not sure about a logic convertor, all I used with mine was a 7805 (to drop voltage from 12 to 5, and as far as i know the back board where the BT sits on, does the 5 to 3.3 reduction, I had a look at the schematics on the EQMod site, but its all Greek to me.
Loupy :)
