My first real attempt at Saturn.
12" skywatcher goto dobbie
Canon 1100D and 2x barlow
Stacked and processed in registax

Thanks guys, compared to some of the saturn images you see on these forums its not fantastic but its a start :)
I really want to get a powemate but the 2x barlow will have to do for now.

I am having immense problems with registax. I have downloaded step by step instructions from people involved with developing the programme, but am getting nowhere. I take 30secs. of video with my 1100D, convert it to AVI with Zoom Browser EX, pop it into registax. I follow the instructions to the letter, but the image remains quite fuzzy, with no detail at all. When I finally click "use linked wavelets", which is supposed to clean up the image more, the screen goes to millions of dots of many colours, and stays like that. What the hell am I doing wrong? HELP.
I've done 55yrs. of film imaging; this digital stuff is driving me mad.

Hi raymo,
Ive never use linked wavelets, I just play around with the wavelets untill i get something I like. Move the sliders manually and have a play also use the sharpen and denoise, thats what works for me.
But having said that I am no pro with registax and I am still learning myself.

Thank you for the advice; I'll give linked wavelets a miss. It is still a
mystery though, you can see the significant improvement in his image
when the tutor presses the linked wavelets button.

Spent an hour on registax today following your advice; I found that
Denoise and sharpen controls made minimal difference to the image
regardless of what settings I used. The wavelet sliders make a lot of difference, but they don't bring out any detail at all; all they do is make the image look more or less garish. The finished product looks quite sharp
at the edges, but otherwise looks like a child painted it, so I'm still
no further ahead, it's soooooooooo frustrating. If I could afford it, I
would go back to film.
