hi all,

tried out the MPCC for the first time Thursday night.
Coma is definitely down, although i'm not sure I had the right spacing. MPCC-T48 adaptor-DSLR.

It had been a while since I taken the scope out so it was great fun.

12" SW goto dob; canon 600d; MPCC mk3; DSS; CS6.

Eta carina, Centaurus A, M104 & M83.
Very happy with M83, what a galaxy!

ps I have put to Centaurus A's in there, i'm not sure which processing I prefer  actually I work off a cheap laptop so i'll probably have to redo all of them after I see them on a real screen.

How did you track these with the DOB?

Hi Nik,
Yep, the dob has tracking, my subs go no further than 20 seconds though, due to field rotation. This means high iso settings on the camera is required. These were iso 3200.

Cheers

Congratulations on the excellent images. Amazing what can be achieved today, off a dob-mount no-less! Your Eta is superb. If you'd said it was tracked on an EQ-6 no one would have batted an eyelid.

Well done,
Cam

Love how you dob guys do this! 20sec exposures! Makes me question my sanity with equatorial photography and all the necessary bits n bobs! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the very kind words Cam! the setup works quite well for the brighter objects, like eta carina etc. the faint fuzzies are much harder which is why i was pretty stoked with M83. i often wonder if an 8" goto dob would be able to achieve similar results or whether the 12" gives it that extra oomph to get enough photons

Cheers Nikolas

Thanks alot Larry!

thanks Logieberra, i'm soon to be moving into equatorial a-photography, so will share your pain soon enough! im a bit anxious about it actually, in terms of getting all the bits and bobs right!

it really makes me wonder what consumer level DSLR's will be like in 10 years? running at iso 12,600 or more with low noise levels. A simple dob like mine may be able to get some impressive snaps.

decided on a 'real' screen the less intense Centaurus process is way better. Sombrero looking a bit blue. a reprocess of a cropped m83 is probably on the cards too.

cheers

Oh man, that Sombrero is fan-frogging-tastic! It's my most desired 'to look at' object that I haven't yet managed too, since buying a scope earlier this year.

Thanks for sharing.

Top collection & impressive results there Russell, Very smooth for the amount of exposures and high iso, Have to be happy with them
BTW, the 2nd Cent A looks best as 1st has core blow from my view ?
I dig the Eta processing, vibrant finish ! !

Well done. the Eta car turned out very nice! LOoks like the MPCC is working well. I struggled a bit to get the spacing right with mine. 55mm I think it should be.

Glad you liked it! Hope you get to grab a view soon!

Thanks Bob, yep I concur now I've seen on a better screen 2nd Cent A all the way. I have cropped and it loses some smoothness but that's to be expected

Cheers Erik, yep the coma corrector has definitely made a difference, unfortunately it doesn't remove field rotation too

Thanks a lot!:)

Here are a couple of cropped versions of Cent A and M83.
