Being relatively new to astronomy and having only recently finished a diy repair job on a 10 inch dob, on the nights here in brisbane when it hasnt been raining or cloudy, i had been trying to use an el cheapo 3 step ladder from bunnings to assist with my viewing.....well after trying to squeeze my butt onto the steps/seat, it was painful as the steps weren't wide enough, and with only 3 seats there wasnt enough range for comfortable viewing. So i decided to make my own out of a few scraps lying around the house, and some ply leftover after making the dob base. All up it cost me about $15 for a couple of bolts and some varnish. Took it out for a spin last night and it works a treat....my butt is very happy and it works well for my 9 year old to comfortable view as well. Thank god for whoever designed these astronomy chairs!!!
Cheers,
Mark
