Hi All,

NGC 2440 - A Planetary Nebula in Puppis. Over 4000 Light years away, this planetary nebula lies in a rich starfield in the constellation of Puppis (The Deck of the now defunct Argo Navis constellation). With a dying central star being one of the hottest known in the universe at over 200,000 Celsius, this planetary nebula is powered in Visible light, Ultraviolet and Infrared by the dying star's cast off energy.

My longest exposure to date, I am quite pleased with getting 2 hours of 5 min exposures taken with an ATIK 314L+ and Skywatcher BD200N reflector. Guided with DBK21AU618.AS and Orion 50mm guidescope with PHD. Captured on 17th March 2013.

Comments and criticisms are welcome.

Yeah, currently sitting under a blanket of cloud, scored some pics earlier, just waiting to see if it will clear, testing out the Atik through sucker holes as an ST4 guider for something to do.....

Very excellent Chris, about as much detail at the DSS shows too! Your outfit looks to be performing quite nicely

Thanks Adrian, I quite like these out of the way Nebs, the narrow FOV really gets in nice and close.

Thanks Mike!

More subs means more results, this one was 2 hours worth and I think it shows.....I am slowly getting better with the rig, once I figured out that my guidescope should be on axis and the camera oriented to RA/DEC it tracked heaps better and no eggy stars on 5 minute subs, yeeehah!

Thanks for stopping by for a look, bring on IISAC! :)

Cheers
