I've been playing with some data I captured a couple of weeks ago with the Meade 80ED. I was planning to add some colour however the weather hasn't cooperated so far. This is 9x10mins of Lum. I've got a nice internal reflection from Alnilam!

Thanks for looking.

Thats a very good image Peter and the stars are round to the corners. You have to be pleased with the reducer as its working very well.
Is the reflection in the draw tube or from the front surface of the FR?
Maybe a small amount of Velcro teporarily placed in the focuser could help reduce this as a trial.

Thanks Allan - not sure about the source of the reflction - guess I should have another go without the flattener.

The full size version is beautiful Peter, quite an achievement with a mere 80mm of aperture. Love the clarity of the overall image and those nice, round stars.

Cheers

Coming together very nicely Peter.

Actually, I think the reflections add some uniqueness to often seen field. I can almost hear some irreverant Monty Python style humming as the holy light bathes the horse...:)

Seriously though, technically and aesthetically pleasing.

Yes a beautiful image and i too think the bathing beam of light almost adds to the image. Well done.

You seem to be coming to grips with the QSI Peter.

BTW - I hear one of you new team is a good friend of mine.

Nice capture Peter, the full size image looks great. The reflection is well placed as it highlights the Horse to perfection.

Really enjoying the wider field and quicker setup with the ED80. I had previously formed a view it was not going to be any good for imaging at home although I think that was more about noise from my DSLR. I'm finding it works really well with the QSI.

I thought the same thing Rob.

Cheers Laurie.

Thanks Mark. Hope to get some RGB soon - really like this field.

Finding the QSI quite easy to use - not as big a learning curve as I had expected. I'm using SGP to drive it and now have auto focus and plate solving working - that sure has helped. Greg says he's a keen astrophotographer but needs to get back into it.

Thanks Geoff - almost as if that star was placed there intentionally!

Thanks for the feedback Clive.

Thanks Mike.
