Well i finally did my very first ever SOL mosaic that works - kind of. I have learned through this process that the position of the "bright" filter adjustments in the lunt is crucial - i got caught out with a banding effect but hey i am happy if not stoked that i have completed this .:D:)
it is made up of 12 panels:question:
EDIT - I DID A REPRO AND A NEW COLOR SCHEME - HOPE IT IMPROVED IT. WILL REDO THE LOT FROM SCRATCH TONIGHT

:thanx::thumbsup:
now i have to learn how to do mosaics, i did runs of two minutes per frame because the seeing was crud. dodging clouds makes for a long wait to get a frame;)

well Mike i think that if you did have a Ha scope your work would still be world class. I wished i had the scope in the condition its in now rather than what we persevered with at Nyngan;) but still i am happy with cattle class:lol:

Off to a flying start here. I find that checking densities with mosaics is easier the further from the screen you are. I know that sounds daft, but bring up your pic on the screen, then walk back a few paces, and take a look, you can normally see more easily the inconsistencies.
The other part you already know, tuning, tuning, and more tuning. That and practice.

Good start David. Some uneven illumination in the panels, but overall good detail visible. Speed of download and time from panel to panel is important. Particularly the panel above to panel below. That can be several minutes between and you will get blurring there if you are not fast enough. Getting the whole system totally on band is a bit tricky but the sensor you are using will make it easier. Larger sensors can be problematic with getting an even illumination. My latest solar image I have near perfected the panelling and mosaicing. It can be a tough road to perfection but if you persist you will get there.

Well Done David. I echo Paul's comments Mosaics can be a pain especially if the seeing conditions turn on you. Keep at it.

Hey Wow David, not much perfecting to do. One thing I Dig about your Sol images is that you leave some dark orange-red color in the background sky, gives it a real authentic look and creates an amount of 'Heat' in the general appearance, A great processing technique ! Top Class in my books :thumbsup:

well to start with in my mind becasue i didnt alter anything i wasnt changing the shots the gradient should have been ok - how wrong i was. I took 2 minute captures on each panel, and tried to get it as quick as i could. but some high cloud was also a problem. I would like any tips you may have:D;)

If you are running around 15 fps try to keep the individual panels to under 1 minute. Maybe at a stretch to around 65 seconds. Take the time to get the brightest part of the sun as an evenly illuminated panel. Move the pressure tuner backwards and forwards until you are satisfied of correct tuning. Once you have this sorted start at one end and race through was quickly as you can with the time frame specified. You will still get some blurring but you will get better results with practice. Don't mosaic on days of cloud. You just will not get it done smoothly.

thanks for that - so really it comes down to a very fast camera - even illumination and panels under a minute - sounds simple:rofl::thanx:
i will ponder how i will achieve this, though i must say for the next week it probably wont be practiced due to the weather. Paul if you look at some of my older shots you can see where i had both tuner parts illuminating the sun, for some reason i cant get them to marry up and be one, so the compromise was an offset "glow" . i will have to work very hard on getting this bit right. still learning and thaNKS!!
