This is the all singing all dancing sandwich box version. Used pretty much what I had lying around, except for the sockets and the snubber inductor network that I managed to fold into a small package. Soldering is a bit rough here and there.
Anyway, it will power a number of things. Has a quieter PWM setup for a cooler and will automate the operation of a dslr and calibration image capture, with the addition of the illuminatable lens cap that I made.
Workmanship could be better and I'm sure v2 will be much better. A Dremel for starters.
Thanks for the advice. It works well. No smells, bangs and sparks etc. And no interfernce with the camera!!!
EDIT: The mosfet is very low rdson and doesn't need a heat sink. The camera shutter remote is optically isolated from the Arduino. The humidity sensor is mounted inside and out to protect the electrical components while measuring ambient conditions. It also has dimmable plug-in light choice of colour, for working by.
