Experimenting with HA filter on Eagle

Taken with ED80/350D combo from Brisbane.

I went and purchased a elcheapo 70mm/900FL refractor so I could do some guided images.

Below is 15 x 10 minute guided exposures at ISO400

I am experimented with Red HA colour and just HA Monochrome.

Not sure if I like any of them to be honest...lol

1 false color..
1 in HA Monochrome
1 Color cropped and enlarged.

I'm sitting on the fence with this one.

Their all results from the same set of exposures..just processed differently.

I was hoping for more depth for the length and the number of exposures I took...total exposure time of 2.5 hours.

Nice shot there. What type of Ha filter are you using? With the few Ha images Ive taken, after the dark subtraction and stacking, I remove the blue and green channels leaving only the red (as the other 2 channels would have little signal and same amount of noise). I wonder what shooting at a higher ISO will do with Ha imaging (with my un modded 300D I used to shoot at ISO 1600 with the Ha filter to get enough signal). I might try that again with the 350D if the darn weather ever clears here.

Thanks Guys....I need to experiment more....I also agree Scott...I'm sure we can use a higher ISO with HA filters....I will try ISO 800 next.

I purchased the Baader 45NM...not the 7NM as they said the 45 would be more benificial for less sensative chips like DSLR...I dont know how true this is.

Love the HA have you tryed OIII and SII and then mixing than to get a false colour image.

Phil....I only have the UHC-S and H-Alpha 45nm filters but thanks to you their on my to buy list now.....lol

I will have to buy a filter wheel...can you get them to fit SCT's or somwhere within the imaging train.

Yes with O3 and SII you can go for the lovely "mapped colour" images, though total exposure times might run over most of a night for each object lol.
