For my Mak127 I have the Celestron 9 and 25 mm eyepieces received with the telescope. I would like to buy a Baader Hyperion Zoom 8-24 Mark III. Anyone in this forum has a similar experience? Do you consider the optical performance of this zoom coupled with Mak 127 good?
Thanks

Whilst I have no experience with the Mak127, I have used the MkIII on my NexStar 8se with pretty good results. The zoom could never replace dedicated eyepieces, but it is my first one to grab for viewing.

Sam,
did you experienced a light reduction using the zoom instead of fixed focal? Your telescope is 82 instead of mine which is only 5".

no real light reduction, is your map 1.25" eyepiece only -a 24mm 68degreee eyepiece may provide a bigger field if you like wide views

I don't notice any loss of light with mine compared to 5-7 element wide-field eyepieces across the same focal lengths.

Orthoscopics seem a little clearer and brighter, but that would probably be true against most eyepieces.

I find my Baader Mk III zoom performs best in the 12-16mm focal lengths, but there are so many variables (seeing, scope, comparison eyepiece, etc.) that it's almost impossible to say if you will find the same. It performs pretty well across the whole range - it's an eyepiece I quite like - but, to echo Daniel's comment, the FOV is narrow at the higher focal lengths, so wide-field eyepieces would still be useful at the top end of the range.

Thanks to everybody. Your comments are very useful. Now I am more confident to pay 220€ for the zoom. I understood that its performance shall be at least as good as the standard eyepiece I received from Celestron with the Mak on all its operating field.
Another question, probably in the wrong forum.
Do you habve experience of Mak127 operating with ZWO ASI120MC camera?

The zoom is very convenient and I don't notice much light loss compared to other eyepieces.

Thank. And it is very easy to carryout instead of several fixed focals.
