Quick question for astronomers with the above set-up. Are there any special counterweights requirements? I'm worried about the tail heavy RC on the G11 and am wondering what combination of weights should I get?

1. RC 10" CF - 15.7kg
2. QHY9 - 510g
3. Stellervue F80M - 1.2Kg

Weights offered by Losmandy:

7lb
11lb
21lb

Thanks for your help :)

I have the 11 and 21 with the rest (rubber coated gym weight plates) sandwiched in between here (https://public.bn1.livefilestore.com/y1pxIhOKCoO-ju1a_4dekZIyDsJUtzjGnTBm_66dR2Al6EE NGdmng53qcPIX0PM82MciEwQs3b7ofBYFMb e8RHikw/C11_HS3.jpg?psid=1). Don't worry about the load. It'll take it. Just balance it right.

I am only using the one 21Lb counterweight with my setup, almost at the bottom of the shaft.
balances beautifully, no problems.

You'll find that the guiding gets better if you use heavier weights and keep them as close as possible to the RA axis. Less oscillations and moment of inertia.

After reading Eriks comments I'll get the 21 and 11 combination. Thanks guys!

Thanks for the tip, that does make sense. I haven't had any guiding problems yet. Maybe I'll get an extra weight just incase.

Just to be different, I have a Losmandy 21lb and a Robin Casady (http://www.robincasady.com/Astro/g11.html) 15lb weight and Lsafety to replace the standard safety washer and knob.

Mate... I used too. But I'm always packing and unpacking so tying up the cable became just another thing I had to do on top of everything else. Now I just let them free. 'Bag of Noodle' style.
