Hi All,

Imaged Saturn this morning in reasonable seeing but the transparency was effected by cloud to some degree. There is a bright spot in the NEB which I have measured in WinJUPOS to be at L3 24.4 Lat +40.1. This spot is well shown in the 742nm IR images & polar projection maps as well as the animations of the various data sets. Thus far this apparition there have been several bright spots in the NEB and also in the EZ.

Thanks for looking.

Regards
Trevor

Nice work Trevor. Looks like your seeing has gone off the boil to a degree, & speaking of boiling, reckon the weather gods were boiling the invisible kettle directly under the SCT corrector this morning! Lol.

Hope your good seeing returns soon.

Great images again Trevor. As John says the seeing has dropped off and I can see the same fading on cassini that appears on Bird's last Saturn shot. Quite a fascinating effect i've not noticed before.

In my experience Stuart, there are many different types of seeing & most times one can't just boil it down & say; 'Oh it was a 4/10'.

I still have the data (24th March & not posted) but I captured Saturn in what I would describe as terrible seeing yet when it came to processing it, I still managed to get a full & clear CD. That has nothing to do with how good I am or anything! It has to do with the TYPE of seeing. I'm sure you know all this anyway Stuart, I just find it a very interesting topic! Sorry Trevor for hijacking:eyepop::)

Thanks Asi, yep, interesting conditions to image in for sure but resolving the NEB spot made it worth the effort. Reckon we all look forward to a better run with the seeing, around opposition would be nice.

Thanks Stuart, the clouds wafting through didn't help, occasionally the seeing settled but then reverted to the typical fast seeing associated with the jetstream but hey, it was at such a nice alt.

Thank Graeme, appreciate your most generous comment.

Spot on Asi, there are many more than 10 grades of seeing, applying a specific number seems too arbitrary and doesn't tell the full story.

Thanks Ray, hanging out for another dose of good seeing as I am sure you are as well.

Thanks batema, onward & upward.
