I have an old iMac that I have. Someone from NSW is interested in purchasing it.

I wanted to ask for those who may have sent heavy and big objects like a telescope to another state, what is the best service to send an item like this for a decent price?

Item is an:
- iMac
- Roughly 16kg (+1 or 2kg after padding and newspaper, etc has been added)
- The box is roughly 57 length x 39 width x 46 height (cm)

I tried doing a custom box with Australia post but it was too big.

Thanks!

You might pay a little more on shipping, but if you dont want any headaches find your local pack n send store let them pack it and send it and charge the buyer whatever it costs. Make sure you let the buyer know that cost before going ahead. Ive used them to send stuff to South Korea, USA, Europe and the biggest thing was a 65kg scope to South Australia without any issues. Theres other places out there but when your on a good thing its hard to take a risk for something new.
Good Luck

Just saw their website now and looks decent. So do you give them your item and they box it up for you?

I would recommend pack and sent. What ever you do do not send via Australia post. One was shipped to me from WA some years back and was ensured. It arrived with a busted screen.
It took two months and eventually the Victorian ombudsman to intervene before the sods coughed up the insurance money. They no longer insure safe delivery of laptops.

Yeh Australia post recently lost some mail I sent out. Their compensation policy is pathetic!

you can pack it yourself and hand it over or for about $50 they will pack the item pretty well.
