Not quite up to Kunama's standard but I've been working on restoring a neglected C14 for some time .
The paint work was scratched all over , the drives didn't work , missing screws and the optics needed cleaning and putting back into their correct orientation .
It now works well giving great views at high power on steady nights.
Not too shabby for a scope thats over 30 years old.
Just have to find a new project now.

It looks much more orange using the Adobe RGB colour profile (but probably still not 100% correct since my screen can't display the full Adobe RGB gamut). The image has no profile embedded, so most web browsers will assume sRGB. You probably want to convert the image to sRGB before saving.
Cheers
Steffen.

Zane- another worthy improvement would be at least MgF2 coatings on the corrector plate. Those old SCT's had pretty poor light transmission .

Nicely pimped, Zane. I too am one for breathing new life into these older girls.
Mark mentions having the corrector coated. I wonder where such a large item could have done?

Alex - Saintech would be able to do it - it would take two coating runs so cost would be a factor. Gain for both sides would total about 6% tyransmission. Would probably be cheaper to get a 99% enhanced coating on the secondary.

Geez, I didn't think Tasco ever made a C14 :) ;) :P
Yes, it is a little red here :D
Got to say, the old Celestron Orange looks a darned side better than Meade's new Mexican crushed bug blue...
Nice work Zane
I used to dream about owing one of them.

Nice Zane
Did you have much trouble resurrecting the drives?
Mine still work well, Ive only had the corector removed to be cleaned.
Cheers Mark

Hi Mark
I had to adjust the RA drive and reset the Dec spring thing that gives the electrical connection , a lot simpler than I expected , you can be lucky some times.
