This is a combination of data taken several days and 12 months ago when I first started using the Arizona telescope. Although it's packed full of interesting detail this galaxy is actually fairly bland and requires long exposures to bring out significant colour.
Cheers

Nice one, Steve! I'm envious of your northern hemisphere connections. Actually, I'm envious of anybody who has been getting data for the last few months

Thanks Steve. M101 is a great galaxy through a telescope but not that easy to image so I'm reasonably happy with the result
Thanks Rick. Actually the northern connections seem to be getting more tenuous. I have less access to the scope now.
Thanks Laurie

Looks good Steve; some nice details in there and good colour too - the Ha regions in the arms are showing up well.

Thanks David. I thought about getting some Ha to enhance the Ha regions but it's probably not necessary. In any case I've just been told he's shutting down the observatory for a few weeks to attend to computer problems so no more northern objects for a while.

I think this is a good result Steve on a grand looking galaxy.

Sweet shot Steve!
You are having some fun shooting these northern hemipshere objects aren't you?
Greg.

Thanks Greg. Yes it's fun and the beauty is it doesn't cost anything. Unfortunately it may be coming to an end as I'm getting less access now.
Thanks Peter
Thanks Marcus. One of my better northern ones I thought.

Thanks Mike. It really is a great looking galaxy. Had a look through a 17" Dob once and it's simply full of detail.

Lovely capture Steve.
I love that face-on pinwheel style, so much detail.

Thanks Ric. It's certainly a nice galaxy. One of the north's best.
