6:30 pm First night of June- is anyone observing?

Hi folks .... I'm stuck at work until 11pm, but I was outside a few minutes ago and the sky is looking amazing from suburbia here on the Sunshine Coast. Is anyone checking it out in detail yet, especially anyone around SE Qld?

If it's good I'll ring home and get my brother to put the scope out cooling for when I get there.

PS: I crawled into bed at 6am this morning after observing SW73p C and B for a while, seeing wasn't great so I'm in the mood for some good viewing tonight!

Actually I'm lucky enough to have the first clear night here for a while. Not even much smoke around which is surprising, especially considering my partner thought "he won't be observing tonight, I'll light the fire" :doh: (she neglected to look up to see if it was clear).

Building up the CCD Commander script to go all night, hoping to get it done in the next 30mins so I can go inside where it's warm and I can watch Lost :)

Got a few good images of M104 coming down at the moment, might turn in to a reasonable result if I stick at the object long enough.

Heavy rain and clouds here in SA.
I've taken the opportunity to remove and clean my 12" mirror and secondary too.
Mission accomplished!

I've had a quick look the jetstream maps - seems that the fastest bit of stream anywhere over Australia is overhead here now as there's a 150-170 mph wind directly overhead here. Lucky I'm not a photographer, but I guess any high magnification stuff may be out of the question a bit too.

Still ...... I'm gonna drag the scope out anyway, still looks too good to refuse!

That's pretty good going! I stress over cleaning the corrector of my SCT, wouldn't touch the mirrors if my life depended on it.

I sat out the back for a couple of hours with my binos. I swear... if Andrews had been open at 9:00 that night I would've rung 'em up and placed my scope order right then and there... :D

12" is outside here. Now it's waiting until it's dark enough (probably between 11:30pm and 1am). Gives me a bit time to prepare something for Dutch. Got a map about what I've done this year of about 100 pages, about 5x as thick compared to my classmates.

Yes last night I live just south of Caboolture. Not as good as the night before but what a magnificent sight the Jewel box was. Then I had a go at Onega Cen - fantastic, I could even make out some individual stars in the middle of it. Then off to Eta - just great - and that was with a bit of bother from the Moon at:) 7pm.
