Hi,

I had a go at capturing some widefield images 2 nights ago, and this was taken at John's place at Kinglake, Vic with a Canon 1000d and the 28mm Lens on an EQ6.
Single 3 min Sub. ISO 800, just some levels corrected in Gimp. no LP filter. Skies are pretty dark out there.

I don't have a wide angle lens so I might attempt a mosaic with longer exposures next time, but I'm pretty pleased with how its turned out. all other frames had partial clouds in them, this one does as well.

Would anyone know if the blue stars on top are due to the CA in the lens or are they actually blue?

Great Shot Alistair it's a stunning exposure of the Milky Way! I think you are right about the CA, although there are many blue stars out there just as there are Red, White and Orange ones too.

Thank you all for the comments and encouragement. I will definitely be trying more of this.
I think the dark skies really helped as I didn't have to do any colour correction.
hoping to get a qhy8 to eos adaptor so I can image longer in this heat.
Cheers
