Feeling a little cold and bored last night as Jupiter was bouncing around the notebook display, Gloria Gaynor's "I will survive" kept running through my mind so I modified the lyrics slightly:

First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never observe
without a Nagler by my side
But I spent so many nights
thinking how the jet stream did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to Registax
and so Jupiter you're back
from outer space
I just used my ToUcam to find you here
with the GRS and Red Jnr upon your face
I should have changed my 2x Barlow
I should have reduced the ccd gain
If I had known for just one 25th second
onion rings would be back to bother me

Go on now Chris, point your C11 out the door
just turn around now
'cause Damien’s not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to ToUcam me with a C14 aye
you think Io would crumble
you think Red Jnr would transit and die
Oh no, not Io
Io will survive
as long as I know how to GoTo
I know Io will stay alive
I've got all my pixels to deploy
I've got all my resolution to enjoy
and Io will survive
Io will survive

It took all the gamma that I had
not to darken your limb
kept trying hard to process
the layers of my RGB file
and I spent oh so many nights
just processing avi’s by myself
I used to cry
Now I script my image files
and you see Jove
somebody new
I'm not that poorly resolved little disc
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect the seeing to freeze
now I'm saving all my pixels
for someone who's resolving me

Should become the IIS theme song, mandatory singing at all star parties after a few Reds.

Thanks guys - not too sure if Bert's and Houghy's comments re "sad" were directed at my crass efforts at composing alternate lyrics, or were meant for Asimov who bravely owned up to knowing the words of the song off by heart.....:P  ;)

Cheers

Dennis, you're a man of many talents and surprises... not that I would ever have heard that song. I'm quite sure that it's not hidden among my vinyl discs anywhere... hmmm, except maybe under "e" for "embarassing phases, do not open until 2020 when cool once again" ;)
