This year will be my 15th year (first in 1999) going to the F1.
Anyone else here going or have an interest in Formula 1?
Hi Stefan,
Greetings from the observing field of the Warrumbungles Mountain Motel
where unfortunately we have nearly complete cloud coverage at the
moment.
I will be driving from Sydney to Melbourne and am looking forward to watching
the action from the turn 15 premium zone.
Best Regards
Gary

Plenty of interest here, but very limited budget.
I was briefly based in Adelaide when the F1 was there, but was "required for duty" on race day.
Attending an F1 race is on my bucket list, but whether I get to it before the bucket is anyone's guess.

Not this year. Massive fan for 20 years though. Last went in 2011, sat on the inside of T1 for four days. Vettel was awesome that year, his car was so much more planted through there.

Been a great motor sport fan for 50 years, but never been to F1. Too many other expenses.

Closest I've managed was Monaco the day before the GP. After qualifying we were driven around the track.

Went to the first one in Adelaide in 1986.
I was a marshal at the Malaysian Grand Prix in the 1960's before it was F1.
Also did various duties at Oulton Park raceway in the UK.
I will just have to watch this one on TV on my big screen. :D
Cheers:thumbsup:
Coverage of P1 and P2 airs today, Friday 15th March, on ONE HD starting at
12:00 AEDT.
P1 itself starts at 12:30 AEDT and P2 at 16:30 AEDT.
The first good opportunity to see this year's new cars.

Noticed that! I'm on Fangio stand through out the entire weekend.
I would upload photos live from the circuit but there is a file restriction size.
Looking forward to P2.
Hi Stefan
Do you know what time gattes open for Q2/Q3 in the morning?

Normally the gates open at 10:30am. Now that quali has been moved to 11am tomorrow there was no mention or indication of when the gates will open tomorrow morning.
At the moment I am assuming at 10:30am but I will be heading in earlier just incase they decide to open them earlier!

I think I will watch most of it on TV (starts in 1 mins I think). Last time I went to see any motor racing was in 1953. The racing was at Mt Druit, anyone remember. Holdens, MGs, a Jaguar, fiat and a few others. In those days it was illegal to charge entrance on Sundays unless there was a free gate. It was quite a drive to get though the bush to the free gate bute we all knew where it was.

Thanks Stefan,
Got there early and had an awesome day.
For those who have never been, even when you anticipate it
will be really, really, really loud, the sound of just a single
F1 car screaming past, its V8 turning over at 18000 RPM, is
about ten times louder than that. Without ear protection, well
above the pain threshold.

Very true!! Unfortunately though we will not be hearing the screaming V8 engines anymore.
Due to rule changes next year Formula 1 will be having a twin turbo V6. It will sound very different!

Had a great 4 days at the Grand Prix! Took many, many photos. Once I sort through them I will pick out a few good ones and post them up on the forum.
Did everyone enjoy the race? Very happy Ferrari 2nd and 4th. My other favourite drivers Button, not so good down in 9th. Kimi fantastic result winning the race!

Guys, check out the new thread I posted in the Terrestrial Photography Section. Have posted some shots!
The race, at various times, had seven different drivers in the lead.
The record is Monza in 1971 when they had eight.
I read that the average age for drivers at the 2013 Australian Grand
Prix was 27 years and 61 days - apparently the youngest starting
grid ever.
Mind you I have this theory that each lap in one of those cars during a race
probably ages the driver by another day. By the end of the race
it means you probably have aged by a couple of months. This clearly
disobeys what we know from the theory of relativity.
