B&H Photo in the USA are quoting $1530 for the Nextstar 8 SE delivered to Australia. I just got some Celestron Binoculars delivered for half the price I would have paid here.

I don't understand how you can save all most $900 with post and it gets here in. Week that money can be used for a nice cam to go with the scope people her need to lower the price a bit

Hi Lane,
It's like that for a lot of things (not all) in Australia, particularly odd when the items are manufactured in China.
I only mentioned B&H 's price because you were talking about buying in the USA anyway.
The risk is if you have a warranty claim.
The bins are Skymaster 15x70. I could only find them for $199 here.
B&H's price was $56 (AUD), but the freight for 1 pair was $60. So basically if they had arrived in 15 pieces I would have had to cop the loss.
Had a couple of friends interested so we ordered 3 pairs (bought the cost down to $98 each) and all 3 pairs arrived in good order. ( They were well packed, but there was a tear in the outer carton.)
Good luck.

The 8SE is 15kg so add a few more for packaging. It's well padded, so it should be ok, after all it has UPS etc chucking them around in the US and ending up arriving in one piece :D

6SE & 8SE weight
I have 6SE and the entire telescope weighs under 14kg. The weight including packing is just over 19kg.
The 8SE is just over 15kg for the entire telescope, so I would add another 5-6kg for packing (a guesstimate :)).
Cheers

50 pounds the box is 45x45x13 inches $368 shipped from usa and AUD $1,171.47 still save almost $1000 so you can use that to get some nice eyepieces or a good cam

You could try priceusa they provide return insurance for a small percentage of price. That can cover your waranty. I have used them recently for a android tv box from amazon. Ther is an old thread in which we had the owner of priceusa post some comments.
