hi to all,
I have a Vixen GP mount (the old green hammered finish model),
it has R.A. & Decl Motor fitted, but nothing in the way of equatorial drives.
I am wanting to fit a GO-To to the mount, that will also have an autoguide that will be suitable for photography.
Can anyone please assist with advice?
Regards,
Peter

Hi Peter
see: teleskop-express.de their SKGoTo kit fits gp-d. Much better than starbook-s.
Cheers Andy.:)

Hi Peter,
I have a Vixen GP mount and I'm also interested in upgrading to Goto. I have advice from two other members that the 'Skywatcher EQ5 upgrade kit' works. Your mount however sounds more like the older 'Super Polaris' and so may require a bit more tweaking to get it to fit. The kit costs between $650 - $700. I haven't yet decided whether to go ahead with it. (See also my posting under 'Wanted/Trade').

David.

:) Hi peter and David , I have the Vixen Super Polaris mount and its a very nice mount with vixen duel axis drives that are super smooth and zero backlash , non GOTO .
I have an IEQ45 for that .
The easiest way to tell a SP from a GP is the SP has 4 allen head bolts holding the Declination axis of the mount onto the RA axis , in a square shape about 90mm square , the GP mounts are like the EQ5 Synta's and they only have 2 .
You can see 2 of the 4 bolts here on mine under my SKY90 .
Oh yes the Super Polaris does not have a vixen dove tail only a plate with 2 captive knobs for attaching your OTA , not like the Great polaris that has one ( and EQ5 Synta copy )
Synta copied Vixen

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the information. I think I might follow your example and use the Vixen dual axis drives on the GP and use the upgrade money to buy a separate GoTo mount.

David

hi Andy, David & Brian,
I shall study your reply's, thank you,
and consider and study before going further,
maybe even purchse a quality used Go-To mount to do the job from here,
the refractor is 7.5Kg's, so I am looking at a EQ6 pro, or similar,
what others would you suggest?,
regards,
Peter.

Hi Brian,
That's a great looking set-up. I have a Tak FS102 on my SP. I'll try to organise some pictures.
Regards,
David.
