March 3rd - I was setup north of Yallingup when cloud arrived 5pm threatening to kill the show. So I packed up and quickly drove north until I found a clearing. I reached Lake Clifton around 7pm, hiked out to the lake and was setup by 7.30. Around 7.35 I caught a naked eye glimpse of the comet and followed it until it set behind cloud. Easy to see both the head and start of tail and a magnificent sight in binoculars.
This is a frame from a timelapse @ 200 mm, iso 6400, f/2.8, 2 sec, 7.55 pm. Was initially disappointed to see cloud near the horizon, but it actually worked out nicely in the timelapse, moving sideways while the comet drifted down.
I stayed in Perth last night. Couldn't resist another view though, so had fish & chips by the sea and enjoyed showing the comet to passers by :)
