Hello everyone!!

Because of the rain, I decided to go back and reprocess my M83 data from May last year. With this repro I took into account some information regarding spiral galaxies that I've picked up from the Galaxies and Cosmology course I'm doing.

Just to recap, this image is 38x5 minute exposures taken with my old 8" newt. Processing was in Startools using some little techniques that I accidental stumbled on over the last couple of days.

Anyway, I've also attached my previous attempt at processing this data for comparison.

Now I just want the clouds to go away...

Cheers,
Mario

Thanks Carlos. I'm still not happy with some colour issues but that opens up the opportunity for another repro!

Ross,

It's Caltech's Galaxies and Cosmology course but I'm doing it for free through an organisation called www.coursera.org . They have lots of courses from various universities around the world, some of which are astronomy related. I don't get any worthwhile accreditation for doing the course but I get something better - knowledge!!

In the case of my M83, the way the spirals are formed and the associated star forming regions gave me a guide to the colours I should be seeing. With a bit of careful processing, these colours did appear!! The course only has about another week to go but it has been very enjoyable.

Cheers,
Mario
