Reprocessing old avi - 25th Feb

Wanted to see if I could extract any more detail out of an older image, taken in great seeing on the 25th Feb.

The original is on the left, reprocess on the right.

Any opinion?

PS: Please ignore the moon on the reprocessed version - I just didn't composite the proper processed moon in.

the reprocess is showing more contrast and alot more detail on my screen, but you can tell that its more heavily processed. mind you, it look damn fine but doesnt look as natural...

comes down to do you want the most detail or a natural look i guess...

Hey Mike, both exquisite shots. Your reporcess has definitely highlighted the banding detail more, though it looks a little more "pushed". I do prefer it over the original despite the original's more "natural" look.

Thanks guys, I've tried for something a bit inbetween here, because I think the contrast and saturation in the reprocessed was a bit over the top.

How's this one?

btw, I had dreaded onion rings on this avi, despite very good seeing. I think I underexposed as the raw frames in the AVI were a little darker than normal.

I like the boost in contrast and the colours are nice and rich.

Those festoons are great. Very unusually shaped. They're usually more uniform in curvature. I like!!!:thumbsup:

like i said tho, it comes down to what you want. more detail or natural... i quite like the more detialed ones, just for detail sake.

I like 'em all. The first one I think is aesthetically pleasing, more natural and the detail is more subtle. The detail in the others is bolder, as are the colours. Gives it a completely different feel, and highlights the detail. I think I prefer the last one to the middle one. Beautiful capture and processing BTW!:thumbsup:

If I had to choose a favorite I'd choose the original. Taking nothing away from the 2 repo's though.
