I was fiddling with Stellarium to see when Jupiter would be better positioned for us southerners when I stumbled across this.

On 21st Dec 2020 there will be a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn with only 7 arc minutes of separation. This means the two planets will be within the same eyepiece view, see the attached screenshot at around 150x. Unfortunately the two will be pretty close to the Sun at the time, but who knows, we may all have our own personal space telescopes by then ;)

19th of march 2020 is also one to put in your diary, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Pluto and the Moon all huddled together at sunrise.

Isn't the first manned mission to mars flying out in 2015? They might be able to capture the whole thing and stream it down to us earthlings ;)

I'm afraid it will be more like 2045 if it happens at all :-(
