Here's my first Jupiter taking with the new ToUcam.

I'm quite impressed.

Seeing wasn't flash but it showed much less grain using higher gain than the NexImage.

The image appeared much smoother on the screen during capture too.

This is just a quick run through Registax with medium wavelets and a little adjustment to saturation and hue.

Sorry about the size. Forget to make the screen size adjustment which the AmCap software with the NexImage did automatically.

Am heading back out to catch the GRS transit:D

Cheers guys.

I'm just doing a quick Registax on an avi from later in the night when GRS was better placed.

Will post in a few minutes but I think it's looking OK

Nice shot Matt,

I'm still trying to source a Tou Cam SPC900 but having problems finding a supplier, do you mind sharing where you purchased your web cam from?

Hi John.

You can get them from telescopes-astronomy in south australia. I believe a few people (Matt included?) also got them from a supplier in Hong Kong on the cheap.

thanks for that.

Does anyone have any details for the Hong Kong dealer?

In the UK the SCP900 sells for 50 pounds, or approx $120 (not $185) but they dont seem to like to ship to OZ!

username Matt, should be able to help, he saved himself $30 to $40 from memory i think on the 840k when getting it in 3 days from Hong Kong

Do you specifically want the 900nc, or will the 840 do?

John K

Either and/or Mike, what do people think? I was hoping for the 900. Is the 900 at 1.3 megapixels the better way to go?

matt got his 840 from a guy on astromart for $100 US including shipping. :)

Either will be fine, John.

There's a thread here (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=10217) discussing it, which might help you make your decision.

Thanks to you... Ving:thumbsup:

Not sure how many he has left but it might be worth sending him an email?

I think he also had a few 900nc's for sale as well?

good luck

thanks Matt, I just e-mailed Peter.

I also have been in touch with these guys:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8816938198&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:AU:1

An 840k Tou Cam sells for $84 Australian plus $21US for shipping, not bad at all, but they don't have the SPC900!

US$21 for shipping a small box? That's criminal!

welcome to ebay mike. they reduce the cost of the product and make up for it in shipping. its pretty common now. :)

Ok, Peter Lee has just e-mailed me, an SPC900 with adaptor and air shipping is $US124 or around $A160. Not bad. A saving of around $40-$50 locally.

Check out his site here:

p.s. yep, FedEx is the winner here.

Very nice Matt,

Can't wait for more from the 900nc.

Thanks Lester.

Just so you know ... I don't have the 900nc.

My image was taken with the Pro II 840k... although I will eventually perform the 900nc firmware upgrade.

Gotta get used to the ToUcam in its native form first though before I start gettin' DP/iceman fancy:lol:
