View Full Version here: : The whole Chook - not just the Parson's Nose

A week or so back I posted some images of IC2948 taken with a WOFLT110. But, I was told, that is not the whole chicken. For that one needs a 3 degree-a-side shot based on Lambda Cent.

Well, I love a challenge. So here it is. Different scope though. This one is with the BabyQ with a .73 reducer.

Details are:
16x5 minute subs,
ATIK LE4000, Lodestar
G11, FLI/PDF focuser,
SX OAG/FW,
Baader 5nm Ha.

But wait, there's more. Since this was both the first clear night in months and also this scopes first light with new focuser and reducer, I also revisited another old favorite in NGC3576 and 3603 - but in the wider field to show all the region. 10x5 minute subs - otherwise same details as above.

Details
Enjoy.

The Baby-Q and reducer are working well, Peter! Both very nice images.

Cheers,
Rick.

Great results Pete! Both good deep Ha captures (hot on the heals of Marc A and John G), and yes in such a wide field, as always...I can see that Hen ;)

Had a spare moment to outline the chook.

It's coming into land, screaching at whatever it's about to land on - think "Attack of the Killer Chicken"!:help:

Very nice Ha image Pete. Good to see the PDF put to work!

FSQ and reducer is one of the great combos.

Greg.

Thanks John. I'd love to see larger images too but you can only do so much with a 4MP sensor:sadeyes:

I'll wait until after ISON has been and gone and then think about my next milleniium goal - like a U16 or something similar:)

If your camera is lighter than your scope you're just not trying hard enough, Peter

Good one. Sad, but true. Who said size does not matter!! What rot.

Nice chook Pete, finally after looking at pics of IC2948 that I can actually see a chicken.

Looks like that Baby Q will provide some nice images, maybe a 4 panel Mosaic might be the next project ? ;)

That, or a 16803. Mosaic will be cheaper!
