Took 1hr of 5min exposures (Modded 1100D) at 800 iso through SCT of Horsehead nubula close up. Need more data.

How much light pollution was there, if any? Nice photo, will look good with more data :thumbsup:

Isn't it amazing what we amateurs are capturing now. :)

Some more data added to this one to reduce the noise and it will come up a treat.

Thanks all for your comments, this nebula has always held a facination for me since my school days and:eyepop::eyepop: especially when I saw the Hubble closeup a few years ago.

You’ve a very good set of data, but you also have a “pattern” going from the top to bottom under roughly -120deg angle.
I’d try to use bias (and dark) frames to implement partial calibration and then you should be able to almost get rid of it.
It looks like all Canons have similar “noise” issue that shows on bias frames as “verticalish” pattern, so –
is my guess correct that the original picture was rotated by -30deg?

Correct, no bias or dark frames used . Will be using an St8300M with filterwheel with same scope setup very shortly to image this nebula.:D
