Captured these two beautiful Apostlebirds roosting in a native tree next to our caravan whilst near Springsure Qld.
Don't know what they were watching, but something caught their eye at the time.
Very busy birds and interesting to watch.

I just got a reversing adapter for my camera as my cheap entry to macro photography so I couldn't resist using it for this months comp.

I can hear Firstlight in the background ... "here come the macro boys again", but it has been a bit of a drought for me entering this comp and this month's topic is suited to this little shot I got over Christmas, and I have been meaning to share here anyway ...

Two pieces of fauna here. One is quite happy, the other less so.
Taken at Lake Nuga Nuga on the way to the eclipse. I watched this bird from first light until last. A Heron's life consists exclusively of walking slowly in the shallow water eating yabbies.

Sulphur Crested Cockatoo.
FAMILY: Cacatuidae
GENUS: Cacatua
These birds are becoming more frequent around our Home now.
They arrive in numbers of around 6-8.
They started eating the Parrots Sunflower seeds only very occasionally.
Now they come almost everyday.
I am waiting for them to start eating our House :eyepop:
My Wife calls them Dinosaur birds, as they are pretty big up close, make an awful screech noise and scare the daylights out of you sometimes.
Anyway here is one that stole some food from our table one afternoon while we were eating outside.
It steals our food, and then gives us a cheeky look....

A couple Pelicans that i had to walk about a Km to get to with 3 whinging kids in tow.
I'm happy the stayed still enough and let me creep closer although they let out a loud grunt when i over stepped the boundary. They took off just after taking the shot.

Lately the Lillypilly has been fruiting and the local birds have been feasting. We're pretty sure that this is juvenile Palid Cuckoo.
