Hi all,
I recently bid on a 2" UHC filter (exploration optics) on ebay.
I really wanted it so I checked out sniping software to hopefully win it.
Unfortunately, I was sniped too in the last 4 seconds.:mad2:
How many forum members use this kind of thing to win ebay auctions?
As an ebay seller I'm interested.
Cheers
Doug:thumbsup:

You cant be sniped if your bid is the maximum you are willing to pay

True...but really I'm trying to find out who "snipes", not the way it works.
Cheers

I don't use any "sniping" software, I place all my own bids manually.

I do however make up my mind what the max amount is that I'm willing to bid, and I place that amount as a bid late in the game. If I get it for my price or less I figure I wanted it more than anyone else. If I don't win, someone else wanted it more, or was prepared to pay more. Either way I don't take it personally, it's just shopping.

Point is, on a popular item (say a Nagler for example) is sniping the only way to obain a fighting chance if there...oh stuff it, I 've lost interest in this thread! Like the man said it's only shopping.:P
Cheers for taking a look

Hi, I've used sniping before as it allows you to post your maximum bid at the death and you then just wait until the end of the auction. More a convenience tool than anything else. :)

Doug you may be right - on some hot items you may only have a chance by using sniping software, because there sure are a bunch of other people using it. If it's a bargain, and an uncommon item,, and you want it - do what you have to I guess!

Anyway I hope you find other great items to buy ....
Cheers!

Yup, my philosophy too! Don't get taken by the rush, stick to uncommon common sense, realistic prices, bid what you're prepared to pay and if some-one else has a higher need and bid, then so be it - move on, there'll be another! ;)

Cheers,

Graeme

I use Ebay a lot,

I put a bid on a day,or so,BEFORE auction end,to give the seller a fair go,and bid my final amount,a few seconds before the Auction ends,

If I lose,so be it,I wouldn't have paid the higher price anyway.

Regards.
