Hullo One and All ,
After talking to Astro Ron I have a suggestion which I hope will float! We spend much on our gear and equipment. We spend much in feul on getting to Ron's . Ron is on a limited budget. He lets us explore the universe in good dark skies at no expense oout of the goodness of his heart. He spends money and time mowing the area for us. So here the THING! I think there should be a minimum of a -GOLD COIN DONATION- This would , I think this would be a good thing. What do you all think!!

Sounds like a Bargain to me....last time I was at Rons he put on a BBQ aswell...I brought my own meat but we still used his BBQ...and like you said Ron has to maintain the yard and puts everyone up for the night/nights all for our purpose.

Next time I go to Rons I will be happy to dig a little deeper then even a $2 coin.

A bargain indeed... a small price to pay for an entertaining evening with a most excellent host. On yer, Ron!

I've already engaged in a live conversation re donations at Ron's Observatory and Homestead previously, I had even contemplated making a nice tidy donations receptacle box for him. I agree wholeheartedly, and it's great you brought this up Wes.

I think it's the least we could do - literally - for his generosity in allowing us to fill his yard with people and cars and scopes and sleep on his floors and use his BBQ and water, and electricity!!
(2 gold coins for astro-photographers) :poke:.

Steve

PS Ron have you run "dry" again yet, have another 6-pack to bring up for you? ;)

Thanks for that Steve ,
It was good to see the system working at Last month's Storm chaser Event at Ron's but I must say that this is strictly for costs incured on Ron and not a donation. Cheers Zub:thumbsup: :astron: :stargaze:

Yeah Wes it was good to see how well it worked out last month. Great night too, despite the storm, hail, fog, etc - always great to socialise with like minded folk and enjoy a mutual interest! I think I actually socialised much more than observed last time, I'll try to balance the 2 better this time.
;)

I used the word "donation" to imply a voluntary action in contributing - I suspect Ron would not have it any other way - and did not mean it to imply a fund raising venture for Ron and or his homestead / Observatory.
