Which is good news for their astronomers.

Good news indeed. Now if only it catches on ...
To paraphrase a WWII air raid warden, "Get that light out! Don't you know there's astronomy on?"
Paris was never the 'City of Lights' (http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/the-moment-perth-became-the-city-of-lights-20120217-1te0z.html)
Seriously tho, this is a great move by the French government.
As RG said, hopefully it catches on!

Great if all countries would do it.
Well as we are supposed to move there this year or to the outskirts at least I guess it's a positive step. The LP will still be bad I'd say but maybe it bodes well for having a bit of a moan about whatever local lights that will no doubt annoy me.
Still it doesn't seem to target the main offenders like street lights.
Still don't want to move there though.
