Hi all.

I'm getting close to taking the plunge and buying something bigger and better (I mean telescope, not wife).

I've pretty much settled on a 10" or 12" dob (will have to be truss / collapsible).

Due to current budget limitations I can't afford a GoTo unit. However, I want to add one in the future, when the money tree has recovered.

So, my question is, what do I buy now - Meade Lightbridge, Skywatcher, etc?

Which of these can I add GoTo / tracking functionalityto in the future?

Your comments are greatly appreciated.:hi:

I know that Sky Watcher have a goto kit that can be added to their push to Dobsonian mounts. I am not sure about the Meade Lightbridge models.

There is another option available to you. Check out the Argo Navis system. Here is the thread:

Before buying your scope, get in touch with the owner of the Argo Navis system and make sure that it can be added to Dob mount.

:D Yes Argo Navis is the bees knees , and proudly Australian made that can be fitted to any Dobsonion mount made , either mass produced or home made .
People all over the world swear by their systems .

I have the Argo Navis on my 12" Skywatcher Dob. A breeze to fit and works fantastically well. But if not mentioned already it is a 'push to' system not a 'goto' as such.

Cheers

Thank you all for your helpful advice.

Whilst the Argo Navis looks great (I like the fact it's Aussie made too!), and I'm happy with a push-to system, there's one feature it doesn't (of itself) perform - tracking.

Sounds like the SkyWatcher might be the trick.

Once again thanks all for your great input.
