Hi,

First light for my newly purchased ASI120mm and thought I would try out the moon with it. Also first time I try imaging individual craters. Seeing was terrible so I couldn't use any barlow.

SDM 14.5" f4.8 at prime focus
ASI120MM
Sharpcap + Registax 6
No filters used (except UV/IR filter)

I can't remember how many frames were stacked in this video (approaximately 2minutes video worth).

I'd love to hear any feedback on how I can improve these shots. Thanks :)

that's a big scope. but seeing is everything.I think a red filter may help to improve the seeing

Mohammed,

Don't bother with a red filter to capture the moon with that shiny new webcam of yours. If the seeing is bad, then try cranking the webcam to a higher frame rate to "freeze" the seeing and hopefully capture some clearer frames. Visual filters only work when you are using an eyepiece.

Having said that, these shots are fantastic, there is very little I can suggest, based on what you have here, very crisp and the definition from that monster Suchting mirror is fantastic

Good work

Cheers

Chris

Thanks Chris :thanx: I'll go a faster fps next time.

I assumed the Red filter Sam mentioned is the imaging filter from an RGB set?
