Hi Guys,

I'm shocked to say that last night I took my best galaxy pic ever even though the sky condition was 6/10 with fog patches and mist. After processing my images of NGC4945 i just couldnt believe what i have seen. The final image came out clear for a 6/10 night in my eyes. dust lanes are evident although i could have centred the object.

19 x 84 second exposure total of 26.6 minutes stacked in registax. processed in photoshop cs2 with darks autosubtracted in envisage.

im very happy with the pic indeed :)

That looks fantastic, Eric! :)

How come you are going for these faint mag 13s? There are heaps of mag 10-11s in the Virgo cluster. You should be able to get even better shots from there. ;)

It looks like the front cover of a book, just waiting for the title.
Great image.

Thanks for your comments guys. I really appreciated it.

umm i not quite sure steve. I guess it challenges me to find fainter objects in the sky. With the virgo cluster, there is a huge tree blocking it as well and there is only specific times that i can image it. not sure what time though :P

thanks :)

Yes a fine shot, plenty of detail in the dusty areas of the galaxy :)

Faint? at mag 9 Ngc4945 is classed as a bright galaxy, it can be seen in a 60mm refractor.
Nice shot Eric:thumbsup:

Fine capture Eric. The weather has forced me to shoot between the clouds lately even through them it seems and it surprises me the sucess you can enjoy.. once I would not bother on a patchy night but these days what else do you get? Left the shutter open as cloud has gone by and hat tricked the scope for better results.:)
