Comet C/2012 T5 (Bressi)

Hi,

Here's another comet apparently undergoing an outburst, cometC/2012 T5 Bressi.
Around the 20th it was around 16th mag, could be around 11th mag at the moment.
A little difficult to image with the full moon, and only being 25 degrees above the western horizon in Sculptor.
It's sporting a nice tail, certainly plenty of comet action at the moment.

I've supplied a location map, two false colour images between 2200 and 2230, plus one original.

All are 5 x 1 minute exposures.

Fantastic job Justin, you've captured it well under very difficult conditions! :thumbsup: Tail looks to be about 3', extending faintly out to maybe 6' in PA 80 deg.

Hmmm Justin, what is that apparent long thin spike in about PA 310 (about 4:30 in your shot as you look at it)? Shows better in the animation. I checked an image by Michael Mattiazzo of Castlemaine, Vic, and it shows a similar but shortened feature.

Think it's an artifact, at this stage. I need to go though all the images from last night to find the best to confirm this.
