Went to Sydney on Saturday to go on the Harbour Jet, the boat that goes around the harbour, doing tricks and stunts, 270 degree turns, full brake stops etc.. you get very wet :)
Was great fun, i'd definitely recommend it.. some good sight seeing and a bit of adrenalin too.. a photo is below, my sister-in-law's husband came on it with me, he's on the left in the red, i'm in the blue singlet.
Anyway on the way there (about 8:20am), at West Gosford we were 3rd in a line of 3 vehicles (a car, a motorbike and us) going down a hill and at the bottom of the hill there's a street on the right, and out of that street turning towards us (to come up the hill) came a 4wd, too fast, lost it on the corner up on 2 wheels, rolled over and crashed on it's roof just off to our left going down the hill.
All 3 vehicles stopped to help, my wife's a nurse so she helped them out of the car while I called an ambulance. They climbed out of the car ok, nothing too serious in the way of injuries.. the guy had a fairly bad cut on his hand, the girl had some cuts and grazes but wasn't seriously injured. The guy STUNK of alcohol, it looked like they'd been out all night.. and he was driving!!
Another car pulled up and a guy helped out, he was obviously an off-duty doctor, and then a patient-transport ambulance (the green ones) that happened to be driving past stopped as well and helped out.
We had to go, so we left our details with the paramedics and off we went. Got a call an hour later from the police asking who was driving.. it sounded like they tried to make up a story that the girl was driving, probably because he was so drunk. We haven't been called again to give an official statement or anything yet, maybe he's confessed..
Anyway was a scary start to the morning, and we were so lucky.. if we were 50m further down the road, the car would've came out of the side street and ploughed into us! or into the motorbike rider and surely would've killed him.
The number of young people dying on the roads at the moment is scary.. they think they're invincible.
