The wide field shots I take in my back yard in suburban Brisbane peak at mag 10 stars. How much lower could I expect to get at a dark site out of the city?

I found that there were too many things to look at, didn't know where I was because there were so many stars.

For widefield photography, it makes a HUGE difference. Much richer clusters and dust clouds in the milky way.

houghy is right, my first trip to a dark site i found myself lost, there were just SOOOOO MANY STARS!!! I looked for orion which is pretty easy to spot and it was filled with so many stars i had problems distinguishing it... i was very new to telescopes at the time tho :)
