Nice shot :)
I had a little play in Registax and Photoshop - hope you don't mind.
I used the histogram tool to stretch the active region and then in photoshop I used curves to set the dark point.

I really wish I could show you the Running man as seen on my laptop screen also my sons computer, vastly different to how I am seeing it on my monitor which is somewhat old at 7.
Is there a workaround for this problem? how to adjust images for different monitor's. so everybody see's the same thing.
cool shot!
wtf is a running man?

Yep, get everyone to calibrate their monitors.

Hi Ving The Running Man Nebula is not far from M42, it's a blue nebula with dark areas that seem to suggest a man running on Andys redo the mans front leg is near the bottom bright star on the left his head is to the left of the star upper right corner.
Everybody do as Vermin says and calibrate your monitors :-))
Seriousley though this is a shame most people can't see what I am seeing on my laptop this is the best Nebula shot I have ever taken.
Andy's redo is close to what I see, but the blues are softer in the original
I will work on the image to see if I can make it more viewable by others.
cheers

The CRT monitor I use at home is getting really dim, so much so that I'm thinking of taking the back off and upping the internal brightness adjustment (the external one is at max).
My work LCD monitors are reasonably well calibrated (the colour temperature could be better) but I don't see any nebulosity on the image in question.
Maybe your monitors are too bright, have you tried the calibration links I provided above?

Just spent some time trying to get this right , hopefully this will be better.
Vermin thanks for the links I have adjusted the laptop and it is better than before.
cheers
david

Ving, can you see it now or not?

I can but it is a bit washed out, the background is too bright. As Ving said up the contrast or black level a bit.
yeah i can see it but its washed out as vermin said.

Nice shots with the new toy David
Does a play with the contrast do anything more to the Tarantula shot?
We will have to hook this toy up to my 4" short tube refractor and target Orion and Eta Carina when we next meet up.

Andrew come round and see the difference between what you see on here and what I have at home on the laptop, it is like looking at two different images,
Bring the 4" round next clear night :-))

The last edit's nice - shows good detail on the nebulosity around the back of the right 'leg'

Nice shots, wanted to get the running man this year, but might not be possible. good to see someone has taken the time to get it.
I think that last shot is the best of the Running man shots, but a little too much brightness, just dropping it a little to give more definition to the man itself would make the shot fantastic.
Anyway keep them coming.

Hi Paul, this has actually been the same shot the problems before where with my main comp monitor, what I was seeing on it was different to what I saw on my laptop comp. So what I was doing was sending the image to my main comp and doing the adjustments on it
then when I posted the image it was all wrong the last image I posted was from the laptop , if you can follow all this, in future I will be posting from my laptop not my main comp.:-))
thanks
david.
